GGC
Geologia e Geotecnia Consultores, Lda (GGC) is an independent, geological and geotechnical consultancy company registered in Portugal with a staff of experienced geoscientists bound by the codes of ethics of the national representatives of the international professional body: Associação Portuguesa de Geólogos (Federation of European Geologists).
The company has a broad national and international working experience in mineral exploration. Economic geology related activities are developed by GGC in Portugal (gold, base-metals, tungsten, feldspar, quartz, clays and building stone), Spain (Gold and Base Metals), Angola (diamonds, building stone and aggregates) and Mozambique (gold, base metals, titanium, feldspar, quartz and cement raw materials). Geological engineering studies are carried on the same geographical areas.
José H. Freitas Carvalho
José Hermenegildo Tavares de Freitas Carvalho, holds a BSC and a MSC on Geological Sciences by the University Pierre et Madame Curie, Paris VI, France. He was the founder and is actually one of the managing partners of GGC.
Has more than 30 years of professional experience on geological and hydrogeological studies, engineering geology and on multi-commodity exploration projects (metallic and industrial minerals). He works for several exploration companies in Portugal, Australia, Angola and Mozambique for metallic and industrial minerals and formerly served as Geologist for the Geological Survey of Portugal – Exploration Branch, now LNEG. He has been an invited lecturer in Geotechnics and Geology in higher education institutions for over 20 years.
José M. Castelo Branco
Jose Mario Castelo Branco, EuroGeol, holds a Bsc in Geology from Porto University in Portugal and has the title of Eurogeologist granted by the European Federation of Geologists. He has over 31 years of industry experience, including 15 years in technical roles with BP Minerals/Rio Tinto, 9 years with Rio Narcea Gold Mines and 8 years with Lundin Mining.
He has extensive international experience in mineral exploration and development of base metal and precious metal projects along with critical metals. He has played a key role on the discovery of a number of deposits that are now operating mines or near production stage. He is one of the two managing partners of GGC since 2014.
